Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speaker. Feminist Frequency was founded by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips which include commentary on the depictions of women in popular culture. Feminist Frequency is a non-for profit website that focuses on female representations in popular cultural narratives is founded and directed by Sarkeesian. As well as working to highlight the problems surrounding the targeted and sexist assaults on women and as well as other minorities, she is committed to breaking down the stigmas and stereotypes in the popular culture. Sarkeesian is a graduate in social and political thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she is extremely sought-after and has spoken at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Feminist Frequency was created in 2009 by Sarkeesian, university student who has been interested in issues that concern gender and feminism for a long time. This ambitious woman planned to start an internet-based program that would examine gender representation in games, and was then the victim of an online campaign to harass her. But the assault did have been a hindrance, rather it only strengthened her resolve as a feminist media critic.
