Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarships for his parents and a commitment to his community. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. In second football, he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the United States. In the three years that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a diploma from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week during his time at college. After graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with the Buccaneers. 3 times, he was named an All-Pro. He began his business career. In 1988, he worked as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's 10 outstanding young men. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He was captain of his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, he was appointed the athletic director's assistant at the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
